The council needs your help to find our “long lost” Girl Scouts. If you or someone you know were once a Girl Scout as a child or an adult volunteer, we would love to hear from you! We are in the process of developing a local Alumnae Association, and are looking for former and current adult Girl Scouts who would like to be included and/or be a part of the planning. Contact Cathy Pottschmidt at cpottschmidt@girlscoutsaudubon.org, at 927-8946, ext 238, for more information or to become part of the planning.
Amid much laughter and a few tears, the staff and many volunteers said farewell to Alice Johnson, Anne Roberts, and Pam Cavalier, in a luncheon and reception held in her honor on Monday, March 31st in the Program Center. Alice Johnson’s career in Girl Scouts and the Outreach Program spans 30 years. She has been an integral part of bringing the Girl Scout program to underserved girls in our community who might otherwise not had this wonderful leadership opportunity. Over the years she became known to many as “The Girl Scout Lady” and was loved by all who knew her. Anne Roberts shared her many talents with Girl Scouts in a variety of leadership positions as a volunteer for 5 years before joining the staff of Audubon Council in the fall of 1985 in membership, specializing in older girl programs. She moved to Adult Development 5 years later where she trained all of our adult volunteers in “the Girl Scout way.” Her team spirit and leadership skills, along with her infectious smile will be greatly missed! Pam Cavalier first came to Audubon Council as a student worker in 1977 and found herself promoted through the years from Secretary to Registrar, then Customer Service and Shop Manager, where she became the face of Girl Scouts for all of our volunteers. Whenever a volunteered needed anything, Pam could always be counted on to lead the way. She truly found her niche in her work with the volunteers as they came into the shop, and loved this aspect of her job the most. Ladies, congratulations on a job well done! You will be missed!

COOKIES
Girls, you did a fabulous job diligently working towards our cookie goal! You are the heartbeat of our program and we are proud of your dedication to Girl Scouts and each other. Adults, thank you for helping the girls learn many valuable skills from teamwork to management. Your involvement in cookie sales is a necessity in making it a successful Girl Scouts program activity.
Thanks for making this a spectacular season!!
Hopefully your troop has had a successful cookie sale activity and is now ready to discuss what is to be done with the money earned. The decision process of how to use troop proceeds is another valuable skill girls learn as they make decisions based on the wants and needs of the troop. Girls should know the amount they earned and discuss how they want to spend it.
It’s not too late for girls to complete their requirements for the 2008 Dare to Share Cookie Pins. Show us your stuff—photographs of your team in action, posters that describe your goals or things that you are doing—what you think will tell a story about what you learn and do during the Girl Scout Cookie Activity. Click here for additional information and helpful documents to view and print.
Cookie recognitions should be delivered by the beginning of May. Please remember to present these recognitions to your girls as part of the troop’s end of the year activity. Girls and Adult volunteers both deserve a special day to celebrate all of the hard work and dedication that went into making this year’s cookie sale a success! Leaders should contact their Troop Cookie Manager about picking up the girls’ recognitions from the Service Unit Cookie Managers this month.
Cookie Competition at La Culinary Institute An impromptu cookie competition was hosted by the Louisiana Culinary Institute on Essen Lane the evening of Wednesday, March 19th, with student chefs creating delicious desert recipes using a variety of Girl Scout cookies. Girl Scouts from troops # 31, 39, 310, and 449 partnered with adults from the local media for a “sweet” judging of the recipes! We would like to thank our Girl Scouts Kelsey Mire, Olivia Pottschmidt, Samantha Trabeaux, Grace Foil, Chloe Bourgeois, Haleigh Schwartz, Gabrielle Yoes-Favrot, and Gracie Tate, for being our judges for this fun event. We’re looking forward to an even bigger event next year for more Girl Scouts to attend! Check out the great article in Thursday, April 3rd's edition of The Advocate.
